MENDHAR, Dec 19: The villagers locked a Govt Middle School in remote Balnoi area of Mendhar in district Poonch today.
The villagers led by Sarpanch Mian Abdul Ghani, Panch Mohd Saleem and others, moved to the school at Govt Middle School Naad, Balnoi, near the Line of Control and put a double lock there. This school has more than 100 students.
Interestingly, only one teacher is posted in this Middle School and he too, was not attending his duty for the last one week. The studies of the children was badly hit due to non-availability of teachers.
The village Sarpanch and Panch told the Excelsior that they brought the matter to the notice of Zonal Education Officer concerned and the Dy CEO Poonch but they slept over the matter. Fed up with the system of governance, the Panchayat members and the villagers today put a lock on the school and moved to the office of SDM Mendhar and held demonstration against Chief Minister, Director School Education Jammu and CEO Poonch. They demanded adequate staff for the school or its permanent closure.
