UDHAMPUR, Feb 22: Alleging failure of Public Health Engineering (PHE) in providing adequate water supply to them, the residents of village Jandrore-A Block Ghordi Ramnagar, held a massive protest against the PHE Department.
The protestors raised slogans against the PHE Department/ Jal Shakti and District administration Udhampur for their failure to ensure supply of drinking water to the area for the last 15 year, since Mad Devta water tank was damaged after a big tree fell on it. The water tank was not repaired till date with the result locals are totally dependent on natural sources for water, they added.
“During Back to village 1 programme, the PHE authorities had assured that the water tank would be either repaired or new one will be construed within short span of time but no action has been taken so far and poor people are forced to drink dirty water,” said the villagers.
There are around 150 families in the village and their normal life has badly suffered because of no water supply to the area. The matter was brought into the notice of the concerned authorities a number of times but all remained in vain, rued the villagers.
