UDHAMPUR, Nov 30: Locals of village Barmin today held a protest demonstration against worst condition of under construction PMGSY road from Barmin Bridge to Darnu in Udhampur district.
Shouting slogans against the PMGSY Department for its failure to complete the road, protesting villagers alleged that the contractor didn’t complete this 14.725 km long road, work on which was started in 2011.
“It was to be completed by 12-10-2012 but there was no progress on the same despite public complaints to the PMGSY Department and even on Mari Sadak app,” they said and added that condition of the road was such that one can’t even walk smoothly on it.
Carrying a sick old person, pregnant lady on this road for reaching Udhampur hospital is full of risk as any mishap can happen due to big pits on the road surface while school going children suffer daily because of this condition.
The villagers claimed that all roads under PMGSY, which were started along with this road, have been completed but there was no action to finish the job on Barmin to Darnu road.
