UDHAMPUR, Dec 17: Aggrieved over the extremely slow pace of work on Kirchi to Seojdhar PMGSY Road, locals today protested against the district administration and PMGSY Department at Kirchi in Latti Marothi tehsil of Sub Division Dudu.
Shouting slogans, the villagers were demanding immediate construction and black topping of the Road. The protest was held at village Kirchi by the locals namely Girdhari Lal, Ramesh Kumar, Lekh Raj, Reeta Devi, Guddi Devi, Shano Devi, Rattan Chand, Ramesh Kumar, Bushan Singh, Mohd Yousaf, Sudesh Kumar, Kalu Din and others.
The protesting villagers appealed the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to issue necessary instructions to concerned authorities for early construction of the Road so that people may not suffer. They said even as the work on 36.25 km long Kirchi to Seojdhar Road was started in 2017, only four km of stretch was constructed in the last six years.
“The Road will connect Kirchi, Thildu, Kattiyan, Chill and Katyas. Due to unprecedented delay in completion of the work, people of the area, particularly pregnant women, elderly people and students are facing manifold problems,” they said and warned of more protests if the road work is not completed as early as possible.
When contacted, Kulraj Singh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Dudu, said that the Forest Department was not giving permission to cut around 2000 big trees of Devdar on this road because of which the process has been initiated for realignment of the road, which would be over soon.
