SUNDERBANI, June 19: The villagers from Kangri and Beripattan area led by local former Sarpanches and Naib Sarpanches held strong protest demonstration against the Jal Shakti/ PHE Department for massive water crisis in the area for the last last over one month.
This protest was held under the leadership of former Sarpanch Anil Kumar, former Sarpanch Roshan Lal and former Naib Sarpanch Ashok Kumar. A large number of people under their leadership reached the filtration plant Beripatten in the morning and launched protest demonstration. It was alleged that motor pump at the filtration plant went out of order about a month ago, but the concerned officers of the Jal Shakti/PHE failed to get it repaired and resume water supply to the public during these scorching hot summer days.
At around 11:00 AM, the local residents started protest demonstration against PHE department for severe shortage of drinking water in the area. They alleged that due to the negligence of the officers, the water supply has been suspended for a month now. They alleged that water is not purified in this filtration plant and jal jivan mission (JJM) scheme is totally failed to provide purified water to general public.
The protesters warned the PHE department if the supply is not resumed within two days, they will launch indefinite protest in front of PHE office at Sunderbani and also block Jammu- Poonch highway.
