SAMBA, Apr 27: The irate villagers Chak Manga in Samba and its adjoining area staged a protest demonstration near District Industries Centre here in protest against the establishment of Wood Oil Industry in the area.
The protest was led by Sarpanch Kamer Singh. The protestors demanded closure of the industry as the wood chemical produced by it emits a foul smell which adds to the air pollution in the area.
The protestors said that a delegation three days back had also met the DC Samba asking him for closure of the industry but nothing was done. The industrial unit has made the living of people very difficult in its vicinity and in case steps were not taken for its closure the people will intensify agitation. Vinod Singh and Sodagar Mal were among the other social activists who participated in the protest.
