Villagers protest for completion of PMGSY road

UDHAMPUR, June 24: Locals of village Summan in tehsil Panchari today protested against worst condition of n PMGSY road from village Panchari to Danti, which has not been completed in more than a decade.
The protesting villagers raised slogans against the PMGSY Department and alleged that completion of the road was being delayed for no reasons. “This 14- km long road project under PMGSY was started in 2006 and the same had to be completed by 2007 but even after more than a decade, the work is still incomplete,” they said and rued that despite repeated complaints to the PMGSY Department, their Engineers and the District Development Commissioner Udhampur, no action was taken to complete the road.
The 7 km stretch from Summan to Dhanti is in very bad condition and the situation can be gauged from the fact that people are not able to take sick old persons and pregnant women to District Hospital Udhampur, the villagers said and added that the school going children are also suffering as during the rainy day, the road gets totally closed.
The protest demonstration was led by Sarpanch Kailash Dutt, Bittu Ram Panch, Kali Dass Panch, Sanjeev Singh Panch, Gani Panch, Bashir Panch and Reva Panch.
