Villagers protest for water supply to school

UDHAMPUR, June 19: Locals of village Dhrella, Bari and Zone Kulwanta Teshil in Ramnagar protested against the PHE Department’s alleged failure to supply drinking water in Middle School Dhrella.
Villagers said that due to no supply of drinking water by the PHE Department to Middle School Dhrella (winter zone), students were dependent on the natural source of water to quench their thirst.
“Water in these natural sources remain mixed with grubby and mud due to which small kids get affected with intestinal problems,” they said.
According to the locals, it becomes difficult to prepare Mid Day Meal for the school students as there is no water in the school. “Water has to be brought from a distance of about two kilometers. Jal Shakti Department (PHE) had installed the pipeline, which is broken at many places with the result, there is no supply of drinking water,” villagers explained and appealed to the Jal Shakti Department (PHE) to complete the supply project as early as possible.
Those who addressed the gathering, included Sukhdev Singh, Sandhoor Singh, Hem Raj, Subash Singh, Omparkash Sharma, Ajeet Sharma, Nasib Singh, Dev Singh, Kuldeep Singh and Ashok Kumar.
