UDHAMPUR, Nov 23: Locals of village Chowki, Rassain, Majua, Katwalt, Sounthla, Lank and Surni in teshil Ramnagar today protested against PHE Department for no supply of drinking water since last one year.
The protesting villagers were joined by children and women of these areas, who raised slogans against the PHE authorities and the District administration.
The pipeline is damaged at many places but the department has not repaired the same with the result that there has been no water supply to the area for the last one year.
They alleged that due to no supply of drinking water, locales were fully dependent on the natural source of water, which is mixed with grubby and mud, due to which their children and elderly remain affected with intestinal problems
Inhabitants of Chowki, Rassain, Majua, Katwalt, Sounthla, Lank, Surni and adjoining area, where the maximum number of people were gripped with diarrhea, had been drinking water mixed with grubby and mud for the several months, they added.
They lamented that despite repeated pleas to the PHE authorities and then MLA, no action was taken to restore water supply to these villages.
The protesting villagers appealed Governor Satya Pal Malik to issue necessary instruction for repair or replacement of the damaged pipelines so that water supply could be restored.
The protest demonstration was addressed by Jatt Ram, Beli Ram, Dharam Chand, Chatru Ram, Karan Chand, Nek Ram, Shankar Dass, Dhani Ram, Shatto Dev, Ratnu, Muklh Raj, Girdhari Lal and Shanu Devi.
