UDHAMPUR, Mar 17: Aggrieved over no repair of 51 year old wooden bridge in Lander Pancheri area, locals held a strong protest demonstration against Public Works Department (PWD) and the District administration.
The agitating people raised slogans against the Public Works Department (PWD) and District administration.  They were demanding immediate repair of the partially damaged bridge.
This wooden bridge, constructed over Painthli nallah by PWD way back in 1965, is the foot link between Sisli Darang (Panchari) and Thalua Kotla (Lander). It serves as only foot link between Panchari and Lander regions of district Udhampur.
However, being partially damaged in dilapidated condition, it poses serous threats to the safety of over 30 thousand people. Hundreds of students of Government Higher Secondary School Panchari, patients rushing to Primary Health Canter (PHC) Panchari, senior citizens and general public have no other alternative but to cross through this damaged bridge.
