Vinod’s book “The Paradise” hits stalls

JAMMU, Nov 7: Vinod Kumar’s book of English poems “The Paradise”, hits the stalls today.
In this connection a literary function was organized by Young Writers Guild, Jammu through online mode. The book contains 50 English poems written in a lucid manner which include the poems of nature, surroundings, motivation, Corona times, nostalgia and pain in exile.
Apart from the poems, there is a research paper in the book on the historical background of English poetry. This research paper is meant for the academic use. The book has been published by Sarv Bhasha Trust, New Delhi.
A Mechanical Engineer by profession, Vinod Kumar is a writer and poet who apart from his professional responsibilities, also devotes his leisure time to literature. This is his fourth book after “Lal Ded”, “Sheen” and “Pott Aalav”. The book was released in a simple but impressive literary function attended by a galaxy of intellectuals, writers and poets through online mode. The function was presided over by M.L. Pandita, a renowned fiction writer.
The welcome address was delivered by Rinko Koul who also conducted the proceedings of the function. At the start of the function a two minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to the personalities of literature and art who left this world in recent months.
The proceedings started with the reciting of a Lal Vaakh by a young boy Daksh Pandit. After the release of the book, a poem from the book was recited by young girl Amisha Pandit. Detailed paper on the book was presented by Satish Safeer.
Vinod Kumar in his address laid stress on preserving the tangible as well as intangible heritage of which literature is an important part. He said that English poetry is an important component of the modern literature and this genre is spreading day by day. English is a universal language and has a vast readership at the global level. But at the same time he advocated for preserving the local languages also.
M.L. Pandita in his presidential address stressed on the importance of literature in general and poetry in particular. He appreciated the role of the budding writer in promoting literature among the younger generation. He gave his valuable comments on the book. After the presidential address every member, connected through online mode, was given a chance to speak on the occasion. The vote of thanks was presented by Satish Safeer.
