JAMMU, June 21: Viraj Kala Kendra, Jammu produced a new radio play in Dogri titled ‘Ronsliyan Dhaaran’ which is an adaptation of world famous story of Rabinder Nath Tagore titled ‘Samaapati’. The adaptation has been penned down by local writer Rajneesh Kumar Gupta.
The story is about a village girl Minu who is still a childlike despite her young age.
She plays with village children under mango trees and on mountainous areas. Often she walks out to Surinsar for collecting lotus leaves from the lake and her mother worries about her.
She is selected by a rich Mahajan ‘Apoorav’ for marriage but she is not pleased with the strict behaviour of her mother-in-law.
Apoorav goes to city to continue his studies leaving Minu alone in the village. Loneliness makes Minu realize what the meaning of marriage is.
She misses Apoorav and reaches the city to meet him. Apoorav at last finds his love.
The whole play revolves around the village Sagoon in between Surinsar and Mansar. The references of Devka, Bhaoli, Khui, Soota, Kathaad etc is like a fresh air in the field of Dogri literature when there is a dearth of new plays in local language.
The play is successfully orated by seasoned artists Madan Rangila, Lalita Tapasvi, Dr. Chanchal Sharma, Meera Tapasvi, Sunil Sharma, Neeraj Sethi with new comers Tarun Charak and Suhani Rathore.
On this occasion Raj Bharti, chairperson Viraj Kala Kendra and Dr. Kamal Sharma were also present and praised the efforts of the team.
