JAMMU, Nov 18: A meeting of the core executive body of Jammu and Kashmir Ex-Services League (JKESL) was held at the league office in the Rajya sainik Board complex, Amphala, under the chairmanship of JKESLpresident, Major General (Retd) GS Jamwal, AVSM, Ex-MLC.
Besides, Ex-servicemen (ESM) welfare related issues, progress of JKESL projects was discussed with focus on Fauji colonies being established by the Welfare Housing Organisation (WHO) of JKESL.
The joint chairman of WHO, Col (Retd) KS Jamwal, gave out a threadbare progress report highlighting the achievements, finances, grey areas and progress of certain legal cases being contested in different courts.
Jamwal brought out that physical taking over of land is on anvil at Rajinder Vihar in district Samba while at Kargil Vihar in district Jammu, the progress is retarded due to abnormal procedural delays in District Collectorate Jammu attracting and making room for legal hindrances despite issuance of Government approval after kind consent by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Revenue and Rehabilitation Minister, Raman Bhalla.
The meeting also took serious view of certain payment defaulters and decided to give last opportunity of payment to defaulting members till Dec 31, 2012, after which defaulters’ files may be closed who may be left out against allotment priority for completed payments.
In his closing address, Gen Jamwal informed that President of India, Pranab Mukherhee has given his consent to be the patron in Chief of the Ex-Services League and also agreed to be the Chief Guest at Golden Jubilee celebrations of the League next year.
The meeting was attended by senior secretary, Col Virendra K Sahi, , Chief Engineer, Col Goplal Singh, general secretaries, Col BS Sambyal and Col Bipan Katal, OIC Kargil Vihar, Lt Col ML Raina, OIC, FPS, Lt Col MS Salaria, treasurer, Lt Col DS Salaria, finance secretary, Major JS Billowria, president, Jammu district, Yudhvir Singh and assistant staff secretary, Sub Balbir Singh.
