‘Essential items given to 1283 families’

JAMMU, Apr 30: Jugal Kishore BJP Member Parliament from Jammu today lauded the service activity of local branch of Vivekananda Kendra, Kanaya Kumari which has rendered services to the needy people during the period of Covid-19 Lockdown in Jammu city and provided succor to the thousands of needy people by providing them essential commodities through different camps.
He said that the service activity of the Kendra was inspiring which was based on the teachings of Swami Vivekananda ‘Serve Man serve God’. Kishore attended Vivekananda Kendra essential commodities distribution camp at Sainik Colony today.
Local branch of Vivekananda Kendra, KanayaKumari, a spiritually oriented service mission , during present COVID- 19 lockdown crisis had organized nine essential commodities distribution camps in different parts of Jammu city and served 1283 needy, deserving and poor families through this activity.
Dr Parshotam Singh Pathania, SahSanchalak Utter Prant said Vivekananda Kendra workers of Jammu branch today organized ninth camp of distributing essential commodities among the needy, poor and deserving people in Sainik Colony and three such camps were held in Sainik Colony earlier too in last week of March where 273 families most of them daily wagers and migrant labourers from Chatisgarh, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh were provided essential commodities.
He said that other six camps were held from April 2, till today in different areas of the Jammu city which included Lower Roop Nagar, Patoli, Arjun Nagar, Pamposh colony, Janipur colony, High court Lane Janipur, Upper Roop Nagar, Paloura, Muthi, Purkhoo, Udiaywala, TalabTillo, MachinaDomana, Police Colony, Basant Nagar, AapShamboo Road, JDA flats Lower Muthi Near Gopinath Ashram, Hostel orphans of SOS school TalabTiloo, Buta Nagar quarters and Jagtitownship.
Shiva Sikarwar, PooranKalin of Vivekananda Kendra said that the camps were organized with an aim of ‘Service of Humanity is service of Divinity’. He said that 1283 families comprising of 6415 members in this temple city were provided with essential commodity items on regular basis. Sikarwar said that so far 18 quintals Rice, 30 quintals Flour, 2 quintals Nutree, 1.5 quintals Pulses, 500 bottles of mustard oil, 1500 packs of spices, 500 kgs of salt, 1 quintal sugar, 500 packets of biscuits, 1000 masks and rusk 200 packs were distributed among the needy people.
Sikarwar said that a team of 30 youth belonging to Kendra carried out these service activities. He said that these activities would continue till the lock down is lifted.
