VKS asks Govt to settle problems of migrants

JAMMU, Aug 22: Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj (VKS) Unit Jagti held a meeting under the chairmanship of Pintoo Ji in which various problems confronted the displaced Kashmiri Pandits were discussed.
The meeting said that during last over 30 years of exile the Pandits faced many hardships and both UT and Central Government failed to redress them.
It said that time and again the problems were brought into the notice of Government but to no avail.
It said the community feels alienated due to the step motherly treatment of the Government because it (community) is not the vote bank.
The meeting appealed the Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha to consider the problems on priority basis.
It said though Jagti Hospital has been given the status of Sub District Hospital ,it still lacks all basic facilities and required equipments.
It said the twenty thousand people in Jagti be declared as notified area, all the relief holders and low paid pensioners be declared economically weaker sections, ITI institute be established in Jagti camp, power supply be improved as Jagti is facing huge power cuts, police naka points be established at the entrance and exit of the camp and promoting the sports activities at Jagti to explore the hidden talent of the youth of the camp.
It also demanded parks should be developed and maintained regularly, proper sanitization of the camp, implementation of social welfare schemes to physically challenged people and widows.
