VKS urges admn to explore more ways to revive business sector

JAMMU, Aug 30: Vishal Khatri Sabha (VKS) J&K has urged upon the J&K administration to explore more ways and means for revival of business sector in the Union Territory.
In a meeting of VKS held here in Jammu, its president Devender Seth maintained that business sector in J&K has taken a severe hit like other parts of the country due to COVID-19. Seth observed that in order to revive business sector, stakeholders including Industrialists, Traders, Hoteliers, Entrepreneurs and others related to trade and commerce should be taken into confidence so that a comprehensive draft on trade policy can be made.
“Keeping in view present scenario, LG administration should ensure relaxation in electricity bills, financial assistance to traders, release of long pending payments under different departments, exemption on Bank EMIs during pandemic period and waving off taxes to provide immediate relief to the industries and other traders,” added Seth.
Seth demanded that interest payable during the moratorium period should be exempted, pending incentives related to GST should be released and all mandatory taxes/duties should also be exempted. He also demanded for budgetary support to industries and release of pending payments to MSME units.
He also stressed for relaxation in guidelines related to COVID-19 to attract more and more tourists to the J&K as most of the economy of the UT is dependent on the tourism sector. Recommending expansion of facilities for pilgrims and promoting infrastructure projects to enhance connectivity within the different regions of J&K, he said a focused strategy and initiatives were required to fully explore the tourism potential here.
