Srinagar, Aug 28: The Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS) in collaboration with IIT Madras today organized a workshop in its premises at Bemina Bye-Pass and showcased the Standing wheelchair developed by IIT Madras.

As per the organizers, it was the first workshop of its kind held in UT of J&K and was aiming at disseminating the skills required for assessment, prescription, fitting of wheelchairs and training of users.
“The uses of innovative Arise Standing wheelchair designed are developed at IIT Madras was demonstrated. Around 60 healthcare professionals including doctors, physiotherapists etc participated in the workshop,” the organizers said.
On the occasion, the District Development Commissioner Srinagar Mohammad Aijaz was Chief Guest and appreciated the efforts being made to mitigate the sufferings of persons with disabilities.
He emphasized introducing the latest and innovative technology for the rehabilitation of differently-abled persons.
Dr Mir Mohammad Maqbool, President VMS in his speech thanked the team members of IIT Madras who made this workshop a success.
