Vocational education being prioritized: Sham

JAMMU, May 25: Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma today said that better human resource with quality and value based education is pre-requisite for economic and moral growth of a nation.
The Minister was speaking at the inaugural session of a ‘3-day mega event-Career Fest-2012 for students and job seekers organized by FEPEE, an NGO at City Palace.
The Minister said that education is a powerful tool that develops the desired and desirable values in younger generation. He said education is not merely acquisition of knowledge and skills but it must inculcate moral values and a sense to understand the culture and heritage.
The Minister said that most significant need of the hour was to transforms the education system with a view to cultivate the basic values of humanism democracy, socialism and secularism among the individuals.
In this mega event, two dozen institutions from inside and outside State including few Government ones participated. There has been huge rush of students and their parents who are being given counselling by various educational institutions and Government agencies. Prominent participants in the show came from many far off places like Uttarkand, Punjab, Noida, Delhi, Haryana etc and there was abundant response to participating Government departments.
The show will go on for three days and it is expected that students and job seekers from various parts of the State will be benefited.
Considering the paucity of avenues for the students to verify the credibility of institutions, such activity is desirable to bring consumer of services and providers face to face.
Former Vice Chancellor, BGSB University, Masood Choudhary enumerated various other initiatives taken by FEPEE apart from today’s event.
Among others Chairman, FEPEE, Sarfraz Ahmad, CMO Health Jammu, CEO Jammu, dignitaries and students were also present on the occasion.
