JAMMU, Jan 24: In line with its tradition of working towards the betterment of the society, Vodafone joined hands with the Regional Transport Offices (RTO) of Jammu and Srinagar for the ‘National Safety Week’ which was observed by the respective RTOs in both these cities. To promote road safety and adherence to traffic rules amongst J&K residents under the National Safety Week initiative, Vodafone decided to spread awareness through a multi-level awareness campaign to make a greater impact.
Speaking on this initiative, Bjas Murthy, Operations Director – North, Vodafone India, said, “Vodafone India, as a value-based organization, is passionate about people and is committed to achieving the highest standards in health, safety and well-being for all our stakeholders and the environment that we operate in. We have always believed in reaching out to the people and creating awareness on crucial social issues. We are happy to partner the RTO offices in this National Safety Week initiative which has given us an opportunity to motivate people of Jammu and Srinagar to follow traffic rules and make roads in these cities a lot safer.”
As part of this multi-level campaign, Vodafone used print and display medium in form of leaflets and placards on road safety and traffic rules. Volunteers from Vodafone and students from schools participating in the RTO’s National Safety Week initiative displayed placards provided by Vodafone at important traffic points in both the cities and distributed the leaflets among commuters at traffic lights.
As the next step under this multi-level initiative, the Vodafone volunteers used inter-personal communication to form a personal connect while they held safety talk with co-passengers of drivers who were found violating traffic rules. Vodafone volunteers asked the co-passengers to motivate these drivers to follow traffic rules to help ensure their safety as well as the safety of other commuters.
Acknowledging the people who were found observing traffic rules, Vodafone gave them ‘Thank You Cards’, appreciating their adherence to traffic rules and road safety.
