JAMMU, Mar 19: The Vigilance Organisation Jammu (VOJ) has booked a senior official of the Education Department and two other teachers in a forgery case.
“The then Chief Education Officer (CEO) Jammu Tarsem Lal and two Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) teachers Amarjeet Singh and Mandeep Kour have been booked for fraud and forgery by the Vigilance Organisation Jammu”, a VOJ spokesman said.
He alleged that Lal had hatched a criminal conspiracy and accorded sanction to open New Primary School Dhar Chhani Dowano and appointed Singh and Kour as teachers illegally and in violation of the prevalent norms.
“During the verification, it has emerged that the New Primary School Dhar Chhani Dewano was opened in papers in 2014 in haste and in violation of SSA norms regarding population and expected strength of pupil.
“There was no proposal or sanction of competent authority i.e. Project Director SSA for the opening of said school”, the spokesman said.
He said the school existed for a few months (in papers only) and subsequently was shown merged with the old primary school of the village Naiwala.
“This clearly shows fraud committed by the suspect that the said school was opened just to adjust Amarjeet Singh and Mandeep Kour as ReT teachers.
“Two sanction orders for opening of said school were found issued by the accused CEO after the completion of selection process of the ReT teachers”, he said.
He said that two posts of ReT teachers were advertised and selections were made when the school neither existed on the ground nor even in the papers.
“The whole process has been conducted and completed by the suspect in connivance with the above named beneficiaries in contravention of the law, rules and the procedure by sheer abuse of his official position, in order to confer undue benefit upon them (ReTs),” he said adding a case under various Sections of the RPC has been registered at the police station VOJ.
