JAMMU, Jan 19: Ek Aur Birbal a play produced by Vomad Theatre and directed by Rohit Bhat was today staged at jam packed Abhinav Theatre here this evening.
The play was staged by the Vomad Theatre in collaboration with Pir Panchal. The cine star Rahul Bhat was the celebrate guest while MP (RS) Shamsher Singh Manhas was the chief guest, Surinder Ambardar MLC was the guest of honour. The programme was presided over by Prof A N Sadhu a senior KP leader and former Dean and HoD Economics University of Jammu.
Written by Rakesh Roshan Bhat Ek Aur Birbal is a play which depicts the atrocities committed on Kashmiri Pandits during the Afghan rule and the role of Birbal Dhar a great hero of that time, his son Pt Raj Kak, daughter and wife in freeing Kashmir from the clutches of Afghan rulers.
Birbal Dhar along with his son visited Lahore to convince Maharaja Ranjit Singh the then ruler of Punjab to invade Kashmir to rid Kashmiris of tyrant Afghans. The valiant Maharaja concedes the demand and invades Kashmir. He defeats Jabar Khan, the Afghan ruler and frees the land from the tyrant rulers and rule of law of the land is restored in Kashmir by Sikh rulers.
The play was staged in connection with world cultural renaissance day as announced by President Pir Panchal Ramesh Hangloo.
On the occasion a mesmerizing Thali Dance was presented by the artists of Ramban who made the audience spell bound by their superb performance.
These artists really stole the show with their half an hour performance. Their performance as well as the performance of the artists who acted in Ek Aur Birbal was highly lauded by the audience.
`Speaking on the occasion Shamsher Singh Manhas supported the initiative of Vomad Theatre and Pir Panchal who are working in the cultural field. Surinder Ambardar promised the two organizations in holding events all over the nation while Prof A N Sadhu stressed on younger generation to come forward in keeping their culture intact and alive.
Cine star Rahul Bhat described Kashmiri culture as one of the richest cultures in India which is deep rooted and has a base of thousands of years. He extended all help to two organizations in their cultural activities aimed at revival of Kashmiri culture among Pandits.
On the occasion Ashim Khuda of KPIT, Kiran Wattal, former Commissioner JMC, Sunil Wali, G M Airtel, Col (retd) Shalender Dhar, Avtar Shastri and Aryan Ramesh a social activist were awarded. J K Koul Bezan compared the programme.
