Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Nov 27: Speeding up the campaign for MLCs elections under Panchayat quota BJP candidates Col (retd) Uttam Singh and Rashpal Verma who are camping in hilly areas of Kalakote and Kishtwar held series of meetings with Panchs and Sarpanchs to seek their support in the elections of December 3.
Col. Uttam Singh today visited Sulki, Mogla, Kalakote, Thanda Pani, Jaganu, Dongri, and Rajouri areas and held meetings with the voters.
He conveyed the voters his commitment to the cause of Panchs and Sarpanchs and also told them that NC-Congress Government in the State has very openly refused to empower them with their rights but now they are trying to impress them just to befool them with fictious commitment.
He said the corrupt Government which is knee deep involved in corruption is interested only in mustering power for their henchmen and not the helpless elected Panchs and Sarpanchs who will always remain powerless if BJP candidates are not elected.
Col. Uttam Singh was accompanied by BJP MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma, Sushil Sharma, Vinod Kumar, Raj Kumar of BJYM and several other Panchs and Sarpanchs.
Rashpal Verma addressed the meetings of Panchs and Sarpanchs at Kishtwar where he apprised them about their rights and also highlighted the significance of empowerment of Panchayats. He appealed them for this purpose they should vote for BJP candidates instead of alliance.
Verma said that in case they vote for alliance candidates this will be a great blunder and it will give a message that the Panchs and Sarpanchs are not themselves interested in their empowerment. This is a golden opportunity where the Panchs and Sarpanchs can teach a lesson to alliance candidates who betrayed them by making false promises for last four years, he added.
He said moreover by voting in favour of coalition candidates these Sarpanchs and Panchs will continue to remain puppets in the hand of Government.
Mr Verma was accompanied by National Executive Member, Dr Nirmal Singh, district Hukum Chand, Shakti Singh Parihar.
