JAMMU, May 8: Panun Kashmir (PK) organised a meeting of the prominent intellectuals and activists of the Kashmiri Pandit community living in the Delhi NCR today. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Rajat Mitra, author-writer and psychologist of international repute.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, J&K BJP spokesperson on Kashmir Affairs was the chief guest on the occasion.
The meeting appealed to the displaced community to vote in favour of BJP in the ensuing polling on May 12 in Delhi State. Dr. Rajat Mitra in his address said that the role of the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community in the socio-political affairs in the nation is not guided by the numerical strength. It has an inherent strength as an important issue of national concern that their role has assumed importance. The factor of displacement gains due attention till the community is restored it’s due dignity in its homeland in Kashmir.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, in his speech, recalled the tough times of 1986 to 1991 when the community of Kashmiri Pandits was ethnically cleansed and exterminated from the Valley. He said that it was BJP alone that sent a three member high level delegation to Kashmir in 1986 when the community was attacked and its places of worship were razed to ground in Valley. The role played by BJP can’t be denied in the difficult time of 1989-90 and thereafter, he added.
It is a great opportunity before the nation to set things right in Kashmir under the dynamic leadership of PM Narendra Modi. He has given a new hope to the displaced community. The issues pertaining to the abolition of Article 370 and Article 35A has given a right message to the nationalist constituency across the country. “I make a fervent appeal to the Pandit community living in Delhi, and who have their votes here, to cast their vote in favour of BJP enbloc”. He also appealed people of Chandigarh UT to vote BJP’s candidate Kiran Kher for the second time.
Rajinder Kaul, coordinator, PK Delhi NCR organised the meeting and also conducted the proceedings of the programme. Upinder Kaul, general secretary-PK presented a vote of thanks.
The meeting among others was attended by Utpal Kaul, senior leader, Dr. Nidhi Tikoo Mitra, chairperson-DOPK, Ankur Raina, secretary, Vishal Sharma, official spokesperson, Chushul Mahaldar and Deepak Kaul.
