JAMMU, Apr 2: Brig. (retd) Anil Gupta, State spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party, (BJP) today said that many of party Karyakartas have informed that a candidate who is contesting from both the Parliamentary seats has been approaching them with a plea that he is also working for Narendra Modi and thus seeking their vote in his favour.
In a press statement issued here for the information of all voters, Brig. Gupta said that the candidates of BJP are Jugal Kishore Sharma from Jammu-Poonch and Dr Jitendra Singh from Kathua-Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha constituencies respectively. Only way to vote for Modi is to vote for the party candidates by pressing the Lotus button on the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs)., he added.
Brig Gupta appealed people “to vote for Modi, vote for Lotus,”. No other candidate needs to be voted in the name of Modi. Any such candidate approaching them is merely misusing the name of Modi in order to help the anti-Jammu alliance of Congress-PDP-NC, clarified the press note.
Brig Gupta further stated that the question now is of “DeshkaSwabhiman” and nothing else. The forces that are coming together to hurt the national interest by acting as Pak proxy in India and questioning the valour and sacrifices of the gallant armed forces need to be defeated. The need of the hour is to strengthen the hands of Modi by voting for lotus thereby ensuring the victory of BJP candidates. Anybody working contrary to that is actually working for the divisive forces represented by Congress led alliance, said Brig Gupta.
“To talk of Dogra Swabhiman at this crucial juncture is meant only as an emotional appeal which will actually hurt the Dogras in the long run. DSS chief had enough opportunities as a four time MLA and two-time MP to work for the betterment of Dogras and restoration of Dogra pride. But, alias, nothing happened except attempts to eliminate Dogra heritage against which he never raised any voice though he represented a party which was in power both at the Centre and in the State for decades together.”
