JAMMU, Mar 3: A protest demonstration was organized by All J&K SRTC Volunteer Retired Employees Association outside Press Club here to press the Government for early redressal of their demands.
A large number of VRS employees assembled at outside Press Club and started shouting slogans against the Government for its failure to redress their issues despite several assurances.
Later, the protestors in the form of rally moved towards Civil Secretariat under the leadership of Dev Raj Bali, president, VRS Union of SRTC.
The protestors alleged that higher ups of State Transport and Finance Departments are hand in glove with each other, due to which VRS and GHS employees are badly suffering and forced to come on roads.
We employees are on the road for last four years to get redressed our demands but instead of clearing our dues the authorities of Transport and Finance Department have become mute spectator and are bent upon to harass us for their vested interests, said one of the protestor.
The VRS employees of SRTC are demanding 126 slabs of COLA and 6th Pay Commission arrears with effect from January 1, 2006 besides pending arrears with effect from 1999.
