JAMMU, Feb 19: Volunteer retired employees of SRTC today took out a protest rally against the management of the corporation for representing their case wrongly to the State Government, due to which their pending dues have not been cleared.
A large number of volunteer retired employees of SRTC under the umbrella of All J&K SRTC Volunteer Retired Employees Association assembled this morning in front of Press Club, Jammu and took out a protest rally towards Civil Secretariat.
Led by Association president, Dev Raj Bali and vice-president, Surjeet Singh, the protestors raised slogans against the higher ups of the Transport Department and Finance Department. They alleged that these authorities have deceived the VRS and GHS employees of State SRTC by framing a wrong policy due to which all the VRS and GHS employees are forced to come on roads and stage dharnas for getting their pending dues cleared.
They alleged that due to misrepresentation of their case by the SRTC management to State Government, they failed to get their pending dues including 126 slabs of Cost of Living Allowance and arrears of COLA since 1999 besides other benefits like leave salary benefits, gratuity, ex-gratia grant and implementation of 6th Pay Commission.
They further accused the Government of cheating the VRS employees by making false promise of clearing their dues within 60 days, due to which they are suffering badly for last four years. They appealed the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene personally to settle their case at the earliest.
