JAMMU, Apr 3: All J&K SRTC Volunteer Retired Employees Association staged a protest demonstration this morning here at Exhibition Ground, against State SRTC for not clearing their pending dues.
Addressing the protesting VRS employees, president, VRS Union, Dev Raj Bali and general secretary, Surinder Singh, strongly criticized the attitude of SRTC and higher authorities of Transport Department towards VRS and GHS employees of State SRTC.
The VRS leaders said that their own department did injustice with us, as on one hand their services were gone and on the other hand their dues, which were promised to be cleared within 60 days from the date of VRS and GHS, are still pending.
They said, “We are struggling for last more than seven years for their rights and during this long struggle about 38 VRS/GHS employees of J&K SRTC breathed their last due to various diseases, as they could not afford good treatments for want of funds”.
“We requested ever concerned minister and official to resolve our issues but nobody paid heed to our genuine demands and instead keep giving fake assurances that out dues will be cleared within shortest possible time but till date our dues have not been cleared in toto”, they added.
Reiterating the demands of the Association, which included clearing COLA arrears pending since 1999, 6th Pay Commission arrears with effect from January 1, 2006 and pension benefits, they appealed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to intervene personally to settle their issues.
