JAMMU, Feb 27: A protest demonstration and `sit-in’ dharna was staged by VRS given JKRTC employees near Raj Bhawan Gate at Panjtirthi here today.
Led by Dev Raj Bali, president of Volunteer Retired Employees Association of JKRTC, the protesting VRS accorded employees assembled near the main Gate of Raj Bhawan, Jmamu this morning and held protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans in support of their demands.
They strongly criticized J&K Finance Department and higher JKRTC authorities for their adamant and rigid attitude. They alleged that senior officials were delaying the release of their pending dues of COLA and Pay Commission despite the fact that the funds have already been released by the Government for the purpose. It has been said that bills have also been sent by the concerned RTC officials to the Finance department in the Civil Secretariat but their release is being delayed due to the reason best known to the concerned officials.
Dev Raj Bali pointed out that 53 employees have breathed their last during past about a decade of struggle for want of good treatment but they could not get their hard earned money (arrears) for it. He said they do not have other source of money like pension etc. The government must release their pending dues of COLA arrears with effect from 1999 to Dec 31, 2005, arrears of 6th Pay Commission from Ist Jan 2006 to March 2012 and DA arrears from April 2012 to March 2021.
Those who were accompanying Bali included, Sat Bhushan Singh, Surinder Singh, Deep Raj, B B Sharma, Balwinder Singh, Suraj Singh and others.
