JAMMU, Aug 26: All J&K SRTC Volunteer Retirement Employees Association has criticized the Finance Minister A R Rather and officers under him for not releasing Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in favour of  VRS accorded workers of the Corporation.
In a meeting of the Association held at Gandhinagar here today under the chairmanship of Dev Raj Bali, the members strongly condemned the attitude of Finance department and alleged that it has failed to release 126 slabs of COLA in favour of  nearly 700 workers given VRS. This included 16 installments from 1-1-2006, 18 installments from 1-1-2007, 26 installments from 1-1-2008, 35 installments from 1-1-2009 to 31-12-2009 and 31 installments of COLA from 1-1-1-2010 to 30-4-2010.
They also demanded implementation of  6th Pay Commission benefit in favour of 670 VRS given workers. They pointed out that retirees and other Corporation workers have been given this benefit. They claimed that workers would continue their mass dharna and protest programme till their demands are addressed by the Government.
