The retired J&K SRTC workers under the banner of All J&K SRTC Volunteer Retired Employees Association, Jammu led by its president , Dev Raj Bali and general secretary, Surinder Singh assembled near Press Club complex here today and then started protest demonstration.
The protesting members were shouting slogans against Government and demanding their pending arrears of COLA and 6th Pay Commission. Many times representations were also given to Managing Director, SRTC and Commissioner/ Secretary Finance Department. Even the meetings were also held with the concerned minister on several occasions. Despite false assurances nothing has been achieved so far.
Bali urged upon the Chief Minister to personally intervene into the matter and issue directions to the concerned authorities to clear pending COLA arrears of about 700 VRS given SRTC workers with effect from 1999, 6th Pay Commission arrears with effect from January Ist, 2006 and other pension benefits to the workers. After staging protest for some time they dispersed.
