VRS SRTC employees stage demonstration

JAMMU, Jan 17: A demonstration was held by SRTC VRS Association in front of Press Club here today against the authorities’ apathy towards them.
The protest was led by Dev Raj Bali president of the Association, S Surjit Singh, vice president J&K SRTC.
The protestors strongly condemned the role of the management of SRTC and Finance Department who they alleged are hand in glove in harming the cause of VRS employees of the organization.
The speakers said that the management of SRTC and Finance Department has forced them to come to streets and hold protest demonstrations for our rights.
The protestors raising slogans against the Government and SRTC management demanded immediate settlement of their pending issues.
Surinder Singh general secretary of the Association criticized higher authorities of SRTC and Transport Department for not releasing the pending COLA arrears, leave salary, gratuity, ex-gratia etc amounting to Rs 30,16,10,736.
He said this huge amount is lying with Finance Department where as VRS employees are suffering for the last four years.
He demanded 126 slabs of COLA be released from January 2006 along with leave salary, gratuity, ex-gratia and pending arrears from 1999 and implementation of Sixth Pay Commission from 2006.
