JAMMU, July 2: Vyeth, a socio-religious and cultural organization observed Vaishnavi Divas, here, in which Kashmiri Pandits drawn from different areas paid floral tributes to Late Amar Nath Vaishnavi.
Recalling the services of Late Amar Nath Vaishnavi, Harji Lal Jad, a veteran leader, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said that Vaishnavi was a great fighter and fought for the people of the State in general and for the Kashmiri Pandit community in particular.
Prof BL Zutshi, who was guest of honour in his speech said that best tribute to Vaishnavi would be to inculcate the values of our rich cultural ethos in the minds and hearts of youth.
BK Sanyasi, SK Bhat, Professor Virender Rawal and Shivam Bhat also expressed their views.
On the occasion, Himanshu Pandita and Anjali Pandita sung Guru Vandana. Garu Ram Dogra was awarded this year’s Vaishnavi Samman for his tremendous contribution in maintaining the traffic even after twenty years of his retirement. Short introductory film of the awardee was also screened on the occasion.
A biopic made on Amar Nath Vaishnavi by Prof Virender Rawal through his much acclaimed organization Vyeth was also screened.
Among other present were Prof PL Trisal, Arvind Gigoo, Ramesh Hangloo, Kashmiri Lal, PL Waguzari, JL Ganjoo, BL Zar, Ashok Kangan, Bushan Lal Koul, Prof KL Tiku, Hira Lal Bhat and Adarsh Ajit.
Renowned broadcaster Ramaesh Marhata conducted the proceedings, while well-known stage and TV artist Minal Peer presented vote of thanks.
