JAMMU, Feb 4: Welfare Association Durga Nagar (WADN), JMC Ward Number 64, today demanded urgent construction of a new tube well in the area to solve ongoing water crisis.
“We met higher authorities of Jal Shakti Department a number of times in connection with water supply crisis in Ward Number 64. We urged them for construction of a new tube well near Shishoo Grah, Rajender Nagar Park and we were told by them that the land has been proposed for construction of tube well and funds for the same was also sanctioned,” said M K Razdan, general secretary of the Association.
However, he regretted that till date nothing seems on the ground regarding construction of the tube well. “Our area has been facing acute water supply crisis from years together. We are getting water supply after 5 or 6 days and that too for less than one hour only despite the fact that we are paying full water charges at about Rs 3000 per year,” he added and urged the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to issue orders for urgent construction of a tube well in their area.
