Wage revision among demands by protesting bank employees

JAMMU, Feb 1: Different organisations of bank employees here today staged protest demonstrations in support of their demands.
In a handout J&K Secretary of All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), Suresh Wali listed the demands of the protesting employees as wage revision with 20 per cent hike, 5 day banking, merger of special allowance with basic pay, scrapping of new pension scheme, updation of pension, improvement in family pension, allocation to staff welfare fund based on operating profit, Income Tax exemption for retirement benefits without ceiling, uniform definition for business hours, lunch hour etc in all branches; introduction of leave bank, defined working hours for officers and equal wage for equal work for contract employees/business correspondents.
In another handout General Secretary AIBOC, Soumya Datta stated that today’s protest witnessed a remarkable and resounding show of solidarity, dedication, grit and determination of bank employees and officers under the banner of UFBU on the face of alleged threats and coercive measures adopted by various bank managements and malicious propaganda unleashed by IBA.
Meanwhile, All India Punjab National Bank Pensioners and Retirees Association (J&K Chapter) also staged a peaceful protest demonstration near Press Club Jammu.
The protest was led by Association’s J&K president, B.S Chib and General Secretary C.L Bhat.
The protesters were demanding right to negotiations with IBA, national litigation policy, special allowance for pension and gratuity, 100 per cent DA neutralization of pre-2002 retirees, evolving IBA’s medical insurance scheme to pensioners with grant of subsidy in pension and effective date of gratuity enhancement.
