Waive off VAT from Canteen items: Madan

JAMMU, June 10: Member Parliament, Jammu-Poonch Constituency, Madan Lal Sharma today urged the State Government to remove Value Added Tax (VAT)from Canteen items to facilitate Ex-Soldiers and their families.
“Government should waive off VAT from Canten items  with immediate effect to recognize the services of the soldiers who spent most of their time away from their houses serving the nation”, MP said, adding this will be a tribute by State Government to the ex-soldiers who have rendered meritorious services to the Nation while guarding border and fighting militancy to make us live safe.
Sharma also demanded facilities for the Ex-Servicemen at par with other States of India and appealed to increase quota for re-employment of Ex-Servicemen in the State Government.
He was speaking in a a public meeting held at Sainik Colony here wherein a large number of Ex-Servicemen from Army and other Para-Military forces participated.
