“Wake Up Jammu” campaign reaches Bishnah

JAMMU, Feb 21: Continuing with its sensitization campaign “Wake Up Jammu” under the overall supervision of District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner), Jammu, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, a campaign-cum-YUVA show was organized today in the campus of Government Degree College Bishnah.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Kalyan Singh was the chief guest while as ACR Shenaz Akhter was the guest of honour besides students of the college, prominent citizens, representatives of PRIs, staff of the college, officers of various departments and local youth in large number participated in the show.
The ADC sensitized the gathering about the program and enjoined upon all to exercise their franchise and ensure that every single vote counts in the electoral process.
The campaign has been launched by District Election Officer, Jammu, under Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Program (SVEEP) as underlined by the Election Commission of India. The Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, will make the electorate aware about the benefits of participation in the election process, merits of ethical voting and the power of vote.
The unique feature of this educative campaign is a Mobile Voter Registration Van, specially designed for the purpose, enrolled eligible voters on the spot. Besides, the voters facilitation centres were made functional at Government Degree College Bishnah, Tehsil Office Bishnah and Block Office.
The artists of theatre group Natrang presented an enlightening skit which kept the audience spell bound and very appropriately conveyed the message of importance of enrollment in the electoral roll and importance of vote which is the greatest tool in strengthening the institution of democracy.
The programme ended with administration of a pledge to all present at the venue to vote for their future and to exercise their right for the betterment of society and country.
The entire proceedings of the programme were conducted by RJ’s of 92.7 Big FM.
Later, the ADC Jammu convened a meeting of BLOs and enjoined upon them to register all the eligible voters of their respective areas.
