“Wakeup Jammu” campaign reaches Jammu University

Jammu, Mar 10: Continuing with its sensitization program “Wakeup Jammu” under the overall supervision of District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Jammu Ajeet K. Sahu the first phase of voter awareness-cum-registration program especially for the youth culminated  in the shape of “YUVA show” in the campus of Jammu University, at Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium.
The occasion was graced by the presence of S. G. Ragavendra, Awareness Observer of Election Commission of India, ADC Jammu Kalyan Singh and ACD Jammu, K.K. Sidha Nodal Officer SVEEP Election -2014.  The RJs of 92.7 Big FM conducted the proceedings of the event and HDFC Bank was the co-sponsor of the event. The Natrang Theatre Group presented the play “Lok Tantra Ka Mantra” which kept the audience spell bound.
Onspot enrollment of eligible voters was also done with the help of Mobile Voter Registration Van (MVRV) specially designed for the purpose which is unique to the campaign launched. The event was vibrant with the enthusiasm and zeal of the students.
ADC Jammu Kalyan Singh enjoined upon all eligible voters to get enrolled and exercise their franchise and ensure that every single vote counts towards betterment of future. The program ended with a pledge by all present at the venue that they will vote for their future and will exercise their Right for the betterment of Society and Country.
The campaign launched by District Election Officer, Jammu under Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation in its 2nd phase in targeted approach will focus on the low voter turn out Assembly Constituencies and Polling Stations and will also sensitize the PRI’s and weaker section of the society regarding the benefits of participation in the election process, merits of ethical voting and the power of vote.
The Nodal Officer K.K. Sidha also stressed upon Educational Institutions and College Ambassadors to make their campuses 100% enrolled. He also conveyed that Mobile Voter Registration Van will be made available in all the Assembly Constituencies for the benefit of the electorate to verify their names in the electoral roll.
