JAMMU, Feb 24:Continuing with its sensitization programme “Wakeup Jammu” under the overall supervision of District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Jammu, Ajeet K Sahu, a campaign-cum-Awareness programme was organized at Marh, today.
Local youth, prominent citizens, representatives of PRIs and local officers participated in the programme.
The audiences were sensitized about the programme by K K Sidha, ACD Jammu, Nodal Officer SVEEP Election 2014 and the RJs of 92.7 Big FM conducted the proceedings of the event.
An enlightening skit was enacted by the artists of Natrang theatre Group which kept the audience spellbound and very well conveyed the message of importance of enrollment in the electoral roll and voting which will strengthen the institutions of democracy.
On spot enrollment of eligible voters was also done with the help of Mobile Voter Registration Van specially designed for the purpose.
For inciting the students, a quiz was also held which jelled the audience and made the function a vibrant event. The campaign in its totality enjoined upon all eligible voters to get enroll and exercise their franchise and ensure that every single vote counts towards betterment of future.
The programme ended with a pledge by all present at the venue that they will vote for their future and will exercise their ‘Right’ for the betterment of the Society and the Country as well.
The campaign launched by District Election Officer, Jammu under Systematic Voters Education and electoral participation as underlined by the Election Commission of India and Chief Electoral Officer, J&K will continue to aware the electorate of the benefits of participation in the election process, merits of ethical voting and the power of vote.
PRI’s S Harjeet Singh, Sarpanch Karloop, Narinder Singh. Sarpanch Jaswan and prominent citizens appreciated the concept of the campaign.
