Wangnoo meets CS on eco-conservation of Gilsar, Khushal Sar

Srinagar, Sept 20: The President of the Nigeen Lake Conservation Organization (NLCO), Manzoor Wangnoo, convened a meeting today with the Chief Secretary, Dr. A.K. Mehta, to discuss NLCO’s ongoing conservation efforts.
During the meeting, NLCO presented a comprehensive conceptual note on the eco-conservation of Gilsar-Khushalsar, emphasizing their commitment to environmentally responsible initiatives.
In an official statement released by NLCO, the organization highlighted the significance of this presentation, which was prepared by NLCO Advisor Er. Ajaz Rasool. Wangnoo stated, “This note is a testament to NLCO’s commitment to environmentally responsible initiatives.”
NLCO informed that the government’s plan to commence conservation work on Gilsar-Khushal Sar by the end of this month is a pivotal step in revitalizing these two interconnected urban lakes.
“NLCO believes that this initiative will usher in a new era of conservation efforts, offering a wide range of benefits.”
According to NLCO, the planned conservation work is expected to reinvigorate tourism in the area.
“The restoration of Gilsar-Khushal Sar is poised to reignite tourists’ interest, thereby enhancing the local economy. Additionally, it will open up traditional navigation routes and provide a much-needed boost to local economies.” NLCO said.
NLCO expressed its gratitude to various stakeholders, including the administration, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LC&MA), and all supporters who have steadfastly backed their mission “Ehsaas.”
