DODA, Aug 21: Minister for PWD (R&B) and Mechanical Engineering, Abdul Majid Wani today inaugurated 35 Mtr Span Steel Girder Motorable bridge over Baldani Nallah on Goa – Dranga road constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 190.37 lakh in Marmat Block.
After inaugurating the bridge, the Minister addressed public meetings and highlighted the achievements made by the Coalition Government in infrastructure development across the region. He said that peace and harmony was restored in the State and infrastructural developmental activities were carried out at pace including roads, bridges, schools etc besides benefit and welfare schemes were formulated and implemented with a motive to provide relief and assistance to the common masses.
He said the pace of developmental activities was expedited and the contractors who failed to meet the deadlines and quality were blacklisted and action under law was initiated against defaulters and their contracts were terminated.
Mr. Wani cautioned the people of the region to stay away from the divisive forces that are making hectic efforts to disturb peace and harmony among the different sections of society.
He said all out efforts and initiatives have been made to provide all the basic amenities to the people living in far flung and rural areas to uplift their living conditions. He said various developmental projects are going on in the region and after their completion a large number of habitations will reap the benefits of development.
Mr. Wani revealed that more than Rs 700 crore have been allotted by the former Central Government under Prime Minister’s Re-Construction Programme (PMRP) for clearing of pending land acquisition compensation cases of different PMGSY roads, besides Rs 28 crore are being spent in the district on roads under CRF. He also revealed that about Rs 1.5 crore have been provided under CDF for improvement/ upgradation of power distribution network in the district.
During the meeting, people projected their demands and issues which were patiently listened by the Minister and onspot instructions were conveyed to the concerned officers to mitigate them on priority.
Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) Division Doda Madan Lal, Executive Engineer PMGSY Division Doda, Executive Engineer PHE Division Doda, BDO Marmat and Tehsildar Marmat, besides other officers also accompanied the Minister.
