JAMMU, Feb 27: Directing officers to ensure completion of all road schemes as per the time line fixed, Minister for R&B Abdul Majid Wani today said that growth of economy and welfare of villages especially in hilly areas and bad pockets is directly related to good road communication network.
“Together we need to be forthcoming to public needs and aspirations”, Wani said stressing that accomplishing works in time, regular monitoring and quality control of specifications should remain on focus of all involved agencies.
The Minister was speaking at a meeting held to review the status of ongoing road projects undertaken in district Rajouri under the State Plan, District Plan, NABARD, PMGSY and other schemes.
Minister of State for Health Shabir Ahmad Khan, MLA Darhal Ch. Zulfiqar Ali, MLA, Kalakote, Thakur Rachpal Singh, and other officers were present on the occasion.
During the review meeting detailed appraisal was held on sector wise financial and physical achievements registered in district Rajouri during the current financial year with directions for dovetailing of resources to ensure completion of all vital road projects of significant public importance.
The R&B Minister stressed that funds earmarked for various schemes should be expended in full and the same should speak on ground in the form of physical assets. He directed for implementation of all decisions taken in Rajouri District Development Board (DDB) meetings and gaps if any should be addressed on priority.
The meeting reviewed several important roads and bridge projects in Rajouri, Nowshera, Kalakote, Darhal and other areas of the district. During 2012-13 several bridges have been completed in the district at Thanamandi, Palma Chowkian, Charangal Kathanoo and Nalni Pattan etc.
Status of 25m span Triyath bridge, alternate bridge near Abdullah bridge at Rajouri also came up for discussion during the meeting.
The meeting also reviewed health related infrastructure works taken in hand in district Rajouri. It was informed that out of the three blocks of the new district hospital Rajouri, the Emergency and IPD Block have been completed and handed over while the work on OPD block will be completed by December this year. The work on Sub-District Hospital Darhal has been completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 590.65 lakh and is ready for use.
