JAMMU,  Dec 15: Asserting that Government formation was not the priority of her party, People’s Democratic Party president and Member Parliament Mehbooba Mufti today said that she wants all the regions and communities to be part of the change in Jammu and Kashmir.
“We are thankful to the electorate for giving decisive mandate to PDP in the first four phases of elections held so far in the State but at the same time participation of Jammu region in the new Government formation was necessary as only inclusive mandate could bring a meaningful change we all have aspired for”, Mehbooba said while addressing a public meeting in support of her party candidate from Gandhi Nagar constituency Amreek Singh Reen.
She said that the PDP has emerged not only as an option but the first priority of the people of Kashmir, Chenab Valley, Reasi and Poonch district. “We have not only given a vision to the people and State but our performance in a short span of three years has also inspired people to vote for us’, she said.
“People are participating in this election to write a new script in the State’s political history and the trend shows that they are enthusiastically voting for change,” PDP president said adding that the issues of Kashmir and Jammu region are almost identical. “People have voted against a system and against a party which has plunged the State into chaos and confusion’, she said adding that the people in Jammu region will also have to take a decision as what they are voting for. She said that the politics based on regionalism, communalism and division has to end and PDP will be a bridge to realize this objective. “We need your support and vote to ensure that Jammu and Kashmir emerges as an island of peace and prosperity”, she said.
Mehbooba said if voted to power, her party will bring the area on the heritage tourism map.
