Waqar reviews CAPD functioning, directs officers for regular market checking

JAMMU, Aug 4: Minister of State for Power, CAPD and Information, Waqar Rasool today reviewed the functioning of CAPD Department and took stock of distribution and availability of food grains in the sale outlets and godowns of the Government.
Director CAPD, G. S. Chib, Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors, Joint Controller Legal Metrology, Deputy Controller Legal Metrology and senior officers of CAPD were present in the meeting.
The Minister asked the officers to conduct regular market checking to monitor rates and quality of essential commodities besides keeping a check over black-marketing and profiteering.
The Director CAPD apprised the Minister of the status of food grain supplies in various parts of Jammu region saying that sufficient stock is available with the department. He also informed about the progress of consumer awareness camps being conducted in different parts of the region.
The Minister directed the Director CAPD to ensure that all the grievances of the consumers be met within stipulated time frame. He also stressed for early repair and renovation of dilapidated godowns of CAPD.
The Minister directed the officers for timely and proper distribution of ration especially LPG supply among the people.
He asked the Director to effectively monitor the public distribution mechanism in the districts especially hilly areas and ensure that the ration reaches to the people well in time. He also directed to ensure display of stock position, rate list and list of BPL families in each ration sale depot besides instructing the officers to personally monitor the quality and quantity of ration being supplied to the people.
He said that Government has launched various welfare schemes so that poor people could be facilitated with all necessary services especially designed for socio economic empowerment of weaker sections of the society.
Waqar also reviewed the stock position and distribution of Kerosene Oil and LPG and directed all the officials to ensure its proper and timely distribution.
