KHANSAHIB, Sept 12: Chairman Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) and nominated candidate for Khansahib Assembly constituency , Hakeem Mohd Yaseen has strongly opposed Waqf Amendment Bill 2024 , terming it arbitrary interference in the religious affairs of Muslim minority community .
Addressing a public rally at Parnewa in Khansahib constituency today, after culmination of a big election road show, Yaseen cautioned the BJP led Central Government about the brewing resentment among the Muslim community over the proposed Waqf Board Amendment Bill, adding that the Bill was aimed at snatching Waqf property from the Muslim community. He said PDF will oppose any such conspiracy to usurp the rights of minorities.
PDF Chairman also reiterated his resolve to fight for restoration of the constitutional rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir which have been usurped post August 5, 2019. He said every sinister game plan to change the special demographic character of Jammu and Kashmir would be fought with stiff resistance from the PDF.
He urged the need for modernization of the fruit mandis of Parnewa and Khansahib to give boost to fruit industry in the area. ” PDF would move a motion in the forthcoming Legislative Assembly for sanctioning of a special rehabilitation package for the Fruit Industry which has suffered back to back set backs during the previous years due to market glut and weather vagaries,” Yaseen added.
He said PDF would also seek waiver of KCC loan of fruit growers and traders.
