UDHAMPUR, Apr 1: Locals of Ward Number 21 in Nagrota held a protest dharna against six departments i.e PWD, PHE, Municipal Council, Diveka Project, Pollution Control and Rural Development Department (RDD), Udhampur for not being serious about the work.
Sanjeet Bavouria, Chairman Jan Sangharsh Sanstha and locals of Nagrota held a protest in front of DC Office Udhampur raising slogans against the six departments PWD, PHE, Municipal Council, Diveka Project, Pollution Control and BDO Udhampur for their failure to provide basic needs in the Ward number 21 and appealed to the Lieutenant Governor, Jammu and Kashmir (UT), Manoj Sinha to take action against the Government officers whose performance is not satisfactory.
He said that complaints were also made to these departments many times in writing but till date no work has been done by them in the Ward which sans proper roads. The Municipal Department is making no arrangements for cleanliness in the Ward and all the streets have been uprooted by Diveka Project which have been turned into drains and accumulation of water in these drains is also posing a threat of spreading epidemic.
The Rural Development Department (RDD) has also made many streets but not a single street has been completed in the Ward and locals appealed to the LG Manoj Sinha that all these six departments should be taken to task for their dismal performance.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Syed Khan assured them that their problems would be resolved at the earliest and on his assurance the protester lifted the dharna.
Others who addressed the protestors included Ishtiaq Qazi, Babu Hussain, Sansar Chand, Rekha Devi, Rajinder Kumar, Shama Akhtar, Lakhmi Chand etc.
