Ward 4 Bani residents worried over bad electricity system

KATHUA, June 18: In Ward No. 4 of Koti Panchayat of Bani, Sub-Division of Kathua district, people are facing problems every day due to bad electricity system.
Local residents Hafiz Qureshi, Ansar Ahmed, Muhammad Rafi, Liaqat Ahmed and others said that many times in the past the officials of the Power Development Department (PDD) were asked to improve the electricity system, but to no avail. They said due to the authorities’ apathy there is a lot of anger among the people against the Department, at the same time people are also worried about this dilapidated system. In Ward No. 4, with the help of green trees and wooden poles, electricity supply is reaching people’s houses and there is often a fear of loss of life, while the fear of financial loss is always there and the problems of the locals are increasing day by day, they added.
They said the dilapidated condition of transformers, wires touching the ground and electric poles hanging in the air have become a headache for the public. Locals say that if the faulty electricity system is not fixed soon, they will be forced to come to the streets.
