JAMMU, Dec 21: Many areas in Ward Number 64 of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) get water supply after three days while a Nallah near Roop Nagar Petrol Pump gets flooded during rainy season and the water enters shops causing damage.
Informing more in this regard, Kapil Singh Chib, Councillor of the Ward said that encroachment over and adjoining the Nallah is one of the reasons for these floods.

He claimed that blacktopping work is 100 per cent complete in his Ward while of the total requirement, 70 per cent Street Lights have been installed there, out of which about 25 per cent are not functioning and are being repaired in routine.
The JMC Councillor also said that stray dogs are there in his Ward creating a lot of problems for the people.
“These canines not only litter here and there but they also bite people and chase two wheelers besides having created a wave of terror among women, children and old age people,” he continued.
Chib informed that there are two parks in his Ward-at Durga Nagar and Rajinder Nagar.
“The park at Durga Nagar is well developed while the one at Rajinder Nagar is JDA Park and it is poorly maintained,” he further said.
The JMC Councillor said that there is no public toilet, no playground, no parking place for vehicles, no public bathrooms and no health centre in his Ward but there are four Community Halls on which JMC has spent Rs. 60 lakh for development.
It is pertinent to mention here that though more than four years of the mandatory tenure of five for the elected body of JMC have passed, yet, many developmental works still await completion and many such works have not even seen the light of the day.
“There are 56 Safai Karamcharis in the Ward but we need 15 more and because of this shortage cleanliness in the Ward is not above the average,” he informed.

“Garbage collecting autos are doing good work in garbage disposal and they collect garbage by moving from door-to-door but some people in Swarn Vihar and in Rajinder Nagar areas do not pay for this service,” the JMC Councillor maintained adding: “Since this service was introduced, number of garbage dumps have reduced in the area.”
He informed that nomads visiting Rajinder Nagar area of his Ward with herds of their cattle during their move in winters spread litter and they also defecate in open thereby leaving problems for the residents in the area.
“Almost all the residents of my Ward have got their Ayushman Cards and all the eligible Voters have made their Voter Cards and same is the status of Domicile Certificates,” the JMC Councillor said.
He informed that many widows, old age persons and physically challenged persons of his Ward are getting pension but the newly introduced rule for these pensions exclusively to Below Poverty Line people is creating problems for others and it should be removed immediately.
