JAMMU, Nov 7: A delegation of Traders Federation Ware House Nehru Market led by Deepak Gupta, Federation president here today met Dr. Devansh Yadav, Commissioner JMC and discussed the problems faced by Ware House Nehru Market traders and also submitted a memorandum in this regard.
The delegation demanded immediate fogging in Jammu’s biggest wholesale grain market as cases of dengue are continuously increasing and there are more than 5000 workers working in the market, most of which sleep in open at night and so far, four to five cases of dengue have been reported from the market.
Deepak Gupta also raised the issue of deteriorating condition of drains and deep drains in the market area due to which traders suffer heavy losses in rainy season because of water logging in their shops as the drains remained choked creating unhygienic conditions.
The delegation further demanded installation of dustbins at various points in the market and deployment of more sanitary workers there.
Another demand raised by the delegation was that of public toilets.
Delegation members said that under Smart City project, a public toilet was constructed in Nehru Market but there was no septic tank attached to it. They demanded that a septic tank should be made for the toilet.
Public toilets at Shiv Market and KC Market were also demanded on priority.
Deepak Gupta said that atleast five High Mast Lights along with new street lights should be installed at Ware House Nehru Market.
Munish Mahajan, senior vice president; Abhimanyu Gupta, vice president and Vishal Gupta, secretary of the Federation were also present in the delegation.
