JAMMU, Dec 16: A delegation of Traders Federation Ware House Nehru Market Jammu today met Vice Chairman Jammu Development Authority (JDA) Pankaj Magotra and submitted a memorandum raising the burning issues of the biggest wholesale grain mandi.
During the meeting, Deepak Gupta, President of Federation apprised VC JDA about the problems being faced by businessmen of this Wholesale Mandi.
Demanding ownership Rights and godowns space for warehouse, Deepak Gupta said that the trading community of Ware House-Nehru Market is facing a lot of congestion due to lack of space with an increase in the business establishments since 1956.
“The 4th generation is working in Ware House and is facing a lot of problems because they don’t have any space for the night stay of outside traders who come to Ware House for business activities”, he added.
Thousands of workers are being forced to spend nights in the open because they can’t construct shelters for them, he said and requested to give ownership rights to shopkeepers so that they can construct rooms on the first floor of shops for night stay for labour and outsider traders.
Gupta demanded separate land for godowns so the traders can store commodities and save the edible commodities from scorching heat and torrential rains, enhancement in parking space for cars, trucks and load carriers, repair of main road and other link roads of Ware House Nehru Market, installation of High Mast Lights and new street lights, proper drainage in Mandi, transfer of land deeds and proper utilization of open space on the main road for horse-cart stand by covering it with fabricated sheets to protect animals during hot, cold and rainy seasons.
