Almost every day , we read in news papers that black topping of roads in one locality or the other was under progress. There is no doubt that despite this work being kick started by an MLA or some Minister as a matter of publicity , no assessment of such work is properly made and no counter checking between various agencies like ERA , PWD, Telephones etc is conducted to verify whether such black topping of roads was going to be a wasteful exercise as in most of the cases , digging is made to lay pipes, cables or similar purposes after this black topping and the whole exercise gets down the drain.
We in this city do not know as to when this continuous digging of roads and lanes was going to stop as it is now for over five years this menace of random digging has been continuing without any respite. Proper planning and coordination between departments executing public welfare measures was need of the hour. In this rainy season even, we come across such instances. Interior lanes and sub roads are in pitiable conditions due to this factor as compared to showing some urgency in respect of busy main roads.
Would authorities pay heed to this problem on a priority basis.?
